How to avoid damaging SAE coins when removing from mint tubes?

I got my first ever tubes of Silver American Eagles today. I opened the top and saw how perfect the condition of the front coin is, and immediately become fearful to remove them from the tubes, 'else I make them scratch by rubbing against each other. :bear_wub: Does anybody have a magic method for gentle removal?

I know its just bullion but I can't help but want to handle them with care.

Flip over and lift tube from stack. When you put them back in the tube slide the tube over the stack. Avoid greasy fingerprints by wearing cotton gloves and make sure you don't drool on the coins.

Put on some gloves and get a scalpel and slice them free.

The grease and moisture on your fingers will damage the surface There is no way to "tap" them out as they will scratch you will have to use a blade and slice it on both sides and do it slowly.

Try gently releasing the cap (green right) and while holding the cap on with one hand, turn the sleeve upside down, placing the loosened green cap on table. Then lift plastic tube upwards leaving a stack of 20 coins sitting on the green cap.
You can then handle each coin with a coin handling glove if you want to keep fingerprints off the coin.
Not sure if the rounds tend to stick in the new tubes. If they do. Not sure what to try next.
Just some thoughts.

SAE rattle in the tube. There are no issues with them being stuck in there.
I take the lid off and insert a finger to hold the coins in place then invert the tube and let them slide into my hand. I use a t-shirt as I don't have cotton gloves. I actually only handle Maples and other foreign stuff this way. The SAE just don't get that much TLC from me.

Good responses. Believe it or not I actually thought about cutting them open too, lol. The upside down method scared me at first but after you all's suggestions i came to realize theres no boogeyman in the tube, and that im just overly paranoid. They'll probably be fine. So the upside down method it is. :coolbeer:

thanks!

Those tubes run $2 or more at my local shop ("free" with purchase of a roll, lol), definitely do not destroy them.
Silver is tougher than you give it credit for. Now, 24kt Au is a different story.

I'll just add that when you do the upside-down trick, do it on a soft cotton cloth or T-shirt, etc. Don't drop the coins on a metal table, could create a nick or two. Wood tables might contain oil or other finish that you don't want the coins to come in contact with.

I just dump em out on the table and jingle them in my hands. The sound is awesome.

Should I be more careful? It's just metal.

Like all professional collectors, I carefully set the mint tube on the floor and then hit it with a sledgehammer.

If they are rattling around in the unopend tube, they are already scuffed.

I just use a micro-fiber cloth instead of gloves. I wouldn't be TOO paranoid about bullion silver, just try not to touch them with bare hands.

I drilled out the tube with a dremmel tool so that they slide in/out easily.

I've got a bunch of rolls that have never been opened. But one roll has been opened, a lot, and the SAE's inside fondled more than Madonna.

I drill a hole in the bottom of the tube - be careful not to let the electric drill hit the first coin on the bottom. Use a 1/2 inch drill. Then go to the gas station and place the AIR hose on the bottom of the tube and aim the tube at something closeby (like a small animal or your wife yelling at you!) and squeeze the AIR PRESSURE valve NOT.

Had you going there didn't I? :thumb.aspx:
